Therapeutic Massage
is a natural method of treatment using manual
manipulation of the body tissue to affect the nervous and muscular systems and
general circulation. When we are under stress our bodies automatically
contract certain muscles. Most often we keep these muscles tight even after
the
stress passes. Overly contracted muscles restrict circulation trapping
toxins
and waste material in the body which in turn produces stiffness and
pain. By removing
discomforts and tension, a massage can lead you to a new
experience of relaxation,
health and well being.
Deep Tissue & Sports Massage
Many sports and fitness enthusiasts rely on regular massage as an important
part of their health maintenance routine. This is because an area of chronic tension
can impair performance and even lead to injury when stressed. Assisted stretching,
kneading and other massage techniques can loosen areas of chronic tension
and
help relieve new areas of tension before they become chronic.
Recovery
Therapeutic sports
massage helps the body recover from the stresses of
strenuous exercise, and facilitates
the rebuilding phase of conditioning.
The physiological
benefits of massage include improved blood and lymph
circulation,
muscle relaxation, and general well being. These in turn lead
to removal of waste
products and better cell nutrition, normalization and
greater elasticity
of tissues, deactivation of trigger points, and faster healing
of injuries. It
all adds up to relief from soreness and stiffness, better flexibility,
and less
potential for future injury.
What happens during a massage session?
During your first visit you will be asked some questions regarding
your health
history so that your therapist may become acquainted with you. Feel
free to ask
any questions regarding your choice of Therapeutic, Sports or Deep
Tissue Massage.
You will then be shown a room where you will disrobe in privacy
covering yourself
with a sheet as you rest on a massage table. Your modesty is
respected at all times.
The massage is conducted in a systematic manner, working
on the head, neck, back,
arms and legs. A variety of techniques are employed as
each obtains different results.
All that is required of you is that you relax
as completely as possible. Sometimes
after a massage there may be tenderness in
muscles and joints, or an increase in
symptoms. This is generally due to the release
of toxins and should subside quickly.
You should rest completely after receiving
a massage to experience
it's full benefit.
